During Community Service Week we visited some of Scene's community, environment and design network. Also other local businesses and organisations with similar goals.

LIDS4KIDS

Recently founder Tim Miller won Australian Hero Award in November 2020.

LILY Being able to visit Lids4Kids was a wonderful experience and learning about what they do made me realise that there are many charities and programs fighting the war on waste.
SIENNA Tim from Lids4Kids was doing an amazing job rescuing and recycling plastic lids, all done inside his own home. I learnt that lids are too small to be recycled and are actually sent to landfill if put in the yellow bin, and what Tim’s charity does to prevent this.

SIENNA Previous to visiting the development of Ginninderry, I was unaware that it was a sustainable village. I learnt about the team and what they were doing to be sustainable. We also had a go at melting some plastic and creating plates from recycled lids.
LILY Visiting Ginninderry was a unique experience as it was one of the first fully sustainable suburb (?) area, which fully aimed towards attaining its goal of power saving.
